I was trained in Europe and completed a succession of formal apprenticeships as a piano builder, church organ builder, traditional boat builder, furniture restoration, and marquetry. I have been teaching furniture making, veneering, marquetry, and producing books, DVDs, featured in magazines, and design books, including online content since 1980.

- As we look toward the future on the way specific techniques and hand skills are taught online and in-person, we have adapted, and I have found ways to make this work reasonably well. The DVDs and Booklets are a great way to get the fundamentals of veneering and marquetry mastered, and online mentoring usually resolves the issues that one can encounter in creating next-level projects, both in furniture design, construction, and finishing, as well as veneering and marquetry.
- I am producing new work, and have moved further west to open a shop and teaching studio on the Hamakua coastline north of Hilo, on the Big Island of Hawaii.
